4674 - Ayyangar Kulam -Sanjeevi Rayar Temple 04

            Ayyangar Kulam ( அய்யங்கார்குளம் ) temple is a Vaishnavite  shrine  10 km away from Kanchipuram  on Vandavasi route on the banks of River Palar . This Sanjeevi Rayar temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that the original temple was built by great scholar and administrator named Koti kannikadanam Lakshi Kumara Tatacharya in the 16th century . He served as Raja Guru to the Vijayanagar Emperors. Later this temple and village were named following the name of this great scholar Tatacharya, who was then popularly called as Ayyangar. Vijaya Nagar style of architecture is followed here. This temple had 133 acres extent once.
