Camera Shake Test Stand (03) - a photo on Flickriver

            Test shots made on my Camera Shake Test Stand.

Camera : Nikon D3100 dSLR , set to full manual control (speed, aperture and focus)
Lens : Nikon DX, AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G , set at 55mm

Seen here are the 3 pinholes at the bottom of the cardboard.
For the purists amongs us : pinhole diameter c. 0.7mm. and distance between the 2 outer pinholes c. 180mm.

This image shows the results of the influence of the use of either the VR  (Vibration Reduction) mode or a Tripod at a low shutter speed (1/5 sec.)

I am very pleased that this VR mode on my kit lens seems to work remarkably well indeed !
Results at this level of precision are indistinguishable from the images made with the camera on a tripod (and actuated by its selftimer).
