37170 Whitemoor Junction - a photo on Flickriver

            The contrast is a bit lacking on this one as the loco was in the shade, thought I'd upload it for Nick though as he likes his sand trains ! 
Here we have 37170 in charge of the 09.40 (SO) Monk Bretton to March Up Yard on 22nd May 1982.
Over the years, by far the majority of Class 37s allocated to March were split box boilered ones, however in 1979 37124/5/6 joined the fleet for the last few months then in January 1980 they left to be replaced by 37170-74 inclusive. The newcomers were all due works attention and 37170 was the first to be treated. Although March was essentially a freight depot, it also supplied locomotives for the Cambridge line passenger services between King's Lynn and Liverpool Street, so boilered class 37s were the preferred choice and the newcomers only saw occasional use on passenger work in the Summer.
