Nursing! - a photo on Flickriver

Nursing!

            Here is Mrs Possy who caused so much kafuffle with the birds this morning while breakfasting on our neighbour's tree. 

We went out mid morning for blood tests and then tried to visit the local Pine Rivers Show but parking was terrible, it was cold and grey so we decided to give that a miss. We came home to about 30 Galahs sitting quietly on the powerlines - when the weather is a bit inclement they just hang around instead of going off and feeding themselves! 

It was surprising that they were so quiet because in the very close Tibouchina tree was Mrs Possy with her baby clinging under her belly having some Possy milk. After a while it was quite a climb onto her back. They are both still sitting in the tree as I type this. Rather unusual behaviours with respect to timing! Possums are usually nocturnal animals but not this little dear and her bub, at the moment at least.

Notice her tail wrapped around a branch for extra security.
