Taking the new baby home. - a photo on Flickriver

            It was coming up to 2.30pm and the pink Galahs had been gathering for their p.m. eats in the slowly declining weather and light since about 1.30pm. Suddenly the shout went up by every one of the 50 or more birds waiting impatiently for food on the back power lines. We knew it could only mean one thing, Mum possum was on the move somewhere along our back fence. 

And there she was in all her glory with new baby clinging to her back. And then the weather closed in, a storm of all things! To herald the first time we had seen the new baby. And she slowly made her way along the broadband cable, through our Tibouchina tree and into our neighbour's tree which we know she finds to her taste. 

So right now she is sitting in that tree eating the juicy leaves which means the disturbance in the force and the Galah's screeching will go on until she finishes and leaves. It's going to be one of those afternoons! No, things are happening quickly, the call has gone up "Get out of our place" as she gathers baby and heads back along the fence in the direction from which she came. Live safely little ones!
