I only have eyes for you! - a photo on Flickriver

It's seems to have been raining for days here in SE Queensland but the really heavy stuff only came last night, a bit behind predictions. But I am feeling like a new Dad with sextuplets today (a bit overwhelmed and a bit excited too) - we decided to venture down to a local park/creek where I knew the Council had deposited loads of mulch under trees in the hope of seeing some more fungi.

Well, I think we hit the local motherlode, there were all sorts of fungi including some pretty colours and shapes, especially of the stinkhorns. The only problem is that they really don't last long and I could see where many had started to deteriorate and fall apart already.

Anyway, even my wife was excited! So this is not one of the stinkhorns, I will hold them back a bit so my flickr friends are not overwhelmed, but I rather like these. Sort of like fish eyes or some sort of eyes! Aren't they fun! Sheep eyes perhaps for those who like to eat them (remember the scene from Octopussy?)

I don't know what they really are *** and looking through 20000 varieties, well, not right now! All I know was there were lots of them staring up at me.

*** Laziness will get me everywhere...no, many thanks to Dave Nice and Maybe who helped out by identifying them as Collared Earthstar. I really could do better than that, it's a bit boring!
