City of Rails - a photo on Flickriver

City of Rails

            East half of Yamanote line circle is a huge trunk of the Japanese railroad. Shinkansen, Tokaido line, Keihin-tohoku line, Yokosuka line and Yamanote line run in parallel until Shinagawa station. Yamanote line parts the way between Shinagawa and Osaki and goes north. Shinkansen and Yokosuka line go toward the south-west. The other lines go south.

This picture was taken from Osaki station. It shows a Shinkansen bullet train going to the south-west, a Yamanote line train on the corner and rails here and there. There are rails of Tokaido line and Keihin-tohoku line and a large rail yard-train factory (Tokyo Sogo Sharyo Center) somewhere beyond the elevated way of Shinkansen, but it cannot be seen in this picture.
