Climbing At Intervale - a photo on Flickriver

            The Conway Scenic Railroad Mountaineer is seen climbing the hill at Intervale on the return trip from Crawford Notch. On a clear day the 6,288 foot peak of Mount Washington is visible at this spot. Locomotive 573 is a veteran of Conway Scenic and was built for Maine Central in 1950. The second unit, Boston & Maine F7A 4268 was recently restored at the Conway shops and is powered by a prime mover that was transplanted from a former New Hampshire Northcoast GP9.
