Old and new Swimming Pool and Leisure Centres, Bromsgrove

            I took my car in for its service in Bromsgrove last week, and then took a walk around the town centre to see what was new, or what I had not noticed on previous visits. Today's three photos are part of my documentary stroll.

The latest multimillion pound investment in Bromsgrove has begun.

The first ground was broken for Bromsgrove District Council’s new leisure centre and swimming pools on Monday August 15 by Cllr Peter Whittaker, portfolio holder for Leisure, Ben Shearman, Morgan Sindall senior contracts manager, and Steve Cowley, Morgan Sindall senior project manager.

Cllr Whittaker said: “We’re delighted to take our latest step towards a better Bromsgrove, and to improved leisure opportunities for residents across the district.”

Morgan Sindall Group is building the new facility next to the existing Dolphin Centre on School Drive, which will remain open until the new one opens in 2017. It will feature two swimming pools including one with a movable floor for disability access, the district’s first indoor climbing wall, three fitness studios, a 100-station gym and more, including bigger and better facilities thanks to a £1.5m grant from Sport England.'
