655e Mendenhall Glacier and beyond..... Juneau Alaska

This is more of a wide angled look at the Mendenhall Glacier outside of Juneau Alaska. You can see a portion of the Juneau icefield ( which extends over 1500 square miles) beyond the glacier--this is what constantly feeds the glacier, and causes its movement. The movement has carved out the valley between the mountains on either side. The lake in front is caused by the melting of the glacier-- this didn't exist until recent times.

The Mendenhall Glacier has receded 1.75 miles since 1958.
