Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) mating 11th March, Manchester, 2012 A.Dancy CR 090a

            After 7 years(and 4 weeks) I have finally got my full framers of Peregrine Falcons matings. I have been out over the last 4 weeks nearly every day to capture the moment and been unsuccessful. I have seen them mating in places impossible to image or closer when the light has been bad. Anticipating the possibility of a blue sky and half decent light and despite already having two 2X converters I went out and got the new Canon 2X MkIII converter in the hope of maximising the quality of the image... an expensive decision. My Sigma 500f4.5 will not auto-focus with a 2X converter and using live view was not much help owing to vibration from traffic etc so it was really a case of trusting to luck with manual focus that I would get something sharp. There is a bit of image degradation owing to the use of a 2X converter and ISO1250 but I am about 90% pleased with this effort.  I just need a few grand now for an 800mm lens:)
