Flying Spheres - a photo on Flickriver

Flying Spheres

            Short (because the resolution is so high) video from my test program testing performance with Apple's SceneKit programming API. My game I'm writing has severe performance issues after long periods of time and I wanted to isolate the root cause. It's almost certainly in how I call SceneKit but I haven't figured out the exact issue yet. This test shows I can have many (on the order of 1000) relatively complex shapes, all texture mapped, rotating in three axes and flying in three axes, at 60 frames/second, which is good.

This test has only spheres, each illuminated by three lights, which while assigned random locations, appear to be 90° away from each other, thereby illuminating 75% of each sphere.
