A Routemaster and a SOS QL! - a photo on Flickriver

            A pair of elderly Northern buses stand in the fading light outside the tramshed at Beamish Museum.

On the left is a very well presented 1964 AEC Routemaster with Park Royal bodywork, registered PCN 762. The bus spent it's working life as Northern 2099 and still carries that livery.

On the right is a beautifully restored 1928 SOS QL ("Queen"-class, Low). The Friends of Beamish Museum have spent these last twenty or more years restoring this magnificent bus, No.338 (UP 551) of the Northern General fleet. The 37-seat bus is of a BMMO design by Brush and was the first of 65 supplied to Northern General Transport. It remained in service until 1950. 

Northern General was one of the few companies outside the West Midlands to use this BMMOC-built vehicle in significant numbers and, in 1928, was the largest user of SOS buses other than Midland Red itself.
