1939 Morris Super Six G2SW Taxi

            Standing on the town street at Beamish Museum is this beautifully restored 1939 G2SW Morris Super-Six taxi, registered FLM 807.

The power unit is a 14hp, 1818cc overhead valve engine and claims to be one of only two types of six cylinder London taxi produced - the other being the earlier model Morris G2S type. 

Production of the G2SW model commenced in 1938 and it is believed that less than 100 such taxis were made before the war halted production. There are known to be only three of this type remaining, only two of which are currently roadworthy.

FLM 807 was originally registered in May 1939 and worked as a London taxi until 1957.

The car paid a short visit to Beamish as part of their Power from the Past event of October 2019.
