Male Migrant Hawker - Hovering - a photo on Flickriver

            Found this lovely male Migrant Hawker flying round a small pond just a short while ago and because it kept hovering, I decided to try and get some shots of it hovering. I used flash this time though, I thought that would help me get a much better, less over-exposed shot because in the past, when I haven't used flash the Dragonfly was in focus but often over-exposed and not sharp and today, the flash helped me get my BEST shot of a Dragonfly hovering so far. Although I had to wait a few seconds for the camera to sort it's self out after taking each shot with flash, I still got 4 excellent shots :-)

It went around the pond a few times and when I took this along with a few other shots, it was right infront of me. It hovered for quite a while, I'd say for almost half a minute! I am very pleased with this :-)

This was taken with Fujifilm Finepix s5700 s700 with shake-reduction mode, macro mode and forced flash.
