Kilauea Point Lighthouse, Kauai, Hawaii

Built in 1913 but inactive since 1976. The active light displaying a white flash every 10 seconds, is mounted on the concrete pole to the left of the tower.

The reinforced concrete tower is 52 feet tall and the original second order Fresnel lens remains in the tower. This lighthouse was the original landfall light for ships coming from the orient.

The lighthouse deteriorated over the years and was in poor condition. The volunteer organization that manages the refuge then took over the lighthouse maintenance and repair, raising millions of dollars and completely restored the lighthouse to its former glory. It was then rededicated as the Daniel K. Inouye - Kilauea Point lighthouse in 2013 in time for its 100th anniversary.

Located on the northernmost point on Kauai and all the Hawaiian Islands.

The late Daniel K. Inouye was the long serving U.S. senator for the Hawaiian Islands. The international airport in Oahu is also named for him.
