Leça do Balio (Portugal) - a photo on Flickriver

            Mosteiro de Leça do Balio é um exemplar de arquitectura religiosa fortificada, Síntese do estilo românico e gótico, remonta a uma grande campanha construtiva (1330 e 1336), quando foram renovados ainda os edifícios monacais e o claustro, dos quais vários elementos chegaram até aos nossos dias. A igreja, renovada a partir do início do século XIV é de matriz românica mas transacionado para o gótico.

The Monastery of Leça do Balio is an example of fortified religious architecture, a synthesis of Romanesque and Gothic styles. It dates back to a major construction campaign (1330 and 1336), when the monastic buildings and the cloister were also renovated, several elements of which have survived to this day. The church, reformed from the beginning of the 14th century, is of Romanesque origin but transitioned to Gothic.
