            A Casa dos Cubos, cuja origem remonta ao período medieval, funcionou como celeiro público e armazém de grãos, essencial para o abastecimento e a regulação do comércio agrícola da região.
O nome "Cubos" refere-se aos recipientes padronizados — os cubos de medição — utilizados para pesar os cereais. Feitos geralmente de madeira ou pedra, estes cubos tinham volumes previamente definidos, assegurando transações justas. Para além do armazenamento, o edifício tinha uma função fiscal e administrativa, estando ligado à cobrança de impostos em géneros, prática comum nas sociedades agrícolas.
No século XXI, a Casa dos Cubos foi reabilitada pelo arquiteto João Mendes Ribeiro e acolhe hoje o Centro de Estudos em Fotografia de Tomar, funcionando como espaço expositivo e cultural.

The Casa dos Cubos, whose origins date back to the medieval period, served as a public granary and grain warehouse, essential for the supply and regulation of agricultural trade in the region.
The name "Cubos" refers to the standardized containers — measuring cubes — used to weigh cereals. Usually made of wood or stone, these cubes had previously defined volumes, ensuring fair transactions. In addition to storage, the building had a fiscal and administrative function, being linked to the collection of taxes in kind, a common practice in agricultural societies.
In the 21st century, the Casa dos Cubos was renovated by architect João Mendes Ribeiro and today houses the Tomar Center for Studies in Photography, functioning as an exhibition and cultural space.
