You Don't Live Here Any More - a photo on Flickriver

            The liars in my head, 
all wear your face
They remind me of my flaws
and deny me grace

they judge me unworthy
no matter the effort
or sacrifice
their laughter echoing
long past defeat

I wear a smile
that hides my grief
trying to find the balance point
between my demons
and my peace

which do you feed
when they're both screaming red
battered and broken
this soul, 
isn't dead

for I thought my life was over
the day that you left
but it was simply my beginning
in the shadow of our end

it's eviction day
no more stays of execution
I can't carry you forward
and you can't pull me back

what's dead is dead
what's done is done
to every night
comes dawn

and the reckoning of this truth
we must let go of the life 
we thought we had
to build the life we choose

and I choose me
I am good enough
It's not too late
I know I'm the one
who got back up
who rebuilt her broken pieces
and finally closed the door
