The Forager’s Pause - a photo on Flickriver

            A Eurasian Skylark (Alauda arvensis) perched momentarily with a beak full of insects — a glimpse into the unseen labour behind their enchanting songs. Known for their soaring displays and melodic calls, this ground-nesting species is often heard long before it's seen. Captured on a weathered fence post, the bird’s sharp eye and focused stance hint at an imminent return to the nest.

Shot using the Canon EOS 2000D and EF75–300mm f/4-5.6 lens. A calm, overcast backdrop helped soften the colours, allowing the detail in the plumage and the prey to stand out.
