The Queen's Gambit

            Two former Queensland Railway GL26C-2s are only a few kilometers from the summit of the grade at Ascotan, Chile, some 13,000 feet above sea level. The mighty San Pedro volcano stands as a backdrop. These infrequent boxcar trains are a rather rare catch, headed for exchange with Bolivia.

Apparently these Queensland units have a big following; they're essentially SD38-2s built by Clyde/EMD, and have been altered while still on the Queensland with lower noses for "driver only operation." FCAB uses both an engineer and conductor.
