191/365: Two Cups

            I had a break down today.. and I'm thankful for it.
I was reading something a friend of mine shared on social media. And as I slowly made my way though the post, the tears I had been shoving down for a while now finally surfaced. In that moment I choice grief.
I went to my bed, opened my bible, and, through the tears, cried a prayer of desperation. 
Because in that moment, crying felt like the strongest thing I could do, because I was feeling for people that were being dehumanized. I thank God for these strong moments of sadness. I worry for others who choose to feel nothing.
God help them.

A while back, I was at a Wave of Light event at our church. One of the mothers there, who had lost her son very soon after he was born, gave a few words to the people in the room. She mentioned "You can not have joy or hope without knowing grief."
That really stuck with me.

Today, I chose to hold both cups. Grief and hope. It's so easy to want to hold one without the other. But the truth is, you can't. It is only natural for creation to groan for something better. Because we believe in better. Hope is obtainable, but there are rivers to cross first.

I hope one day, I'll have the proper words to say and the opportunity to stand. But for now, my tears will be my words. And my desperate prayers will be how I stand.
