Built for the USAF as 48-0581, this Packet was sold to the civil market in 1955, and became N4752C. In 1970 it was acquired by Anchorage-based Northern Air Cargo, who operated it until 1982, when it was involved in an accident

While on a VFR approach to Nelson Lagoon, AK, the crew misjudged altitude and undershot the runway, colliding with terrain short of the runway. Two crew members were seriously injured, and the official accident report states that the aircraft received substantial damage to the right boom and the horizontal stabilizer. The aircraft was repaired, but eventually withdrawn from use at Anchorage in early 1985.

At the time of the photograph in summer 1986, the Packet was one of several sitting in the grass next to Northern Air Cargo's ramp in this all metal finish, and looked fairly complete. In 1988 the aircraft was sold to Darryl Greenamyer, flown to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH, where it is now on display at the USAF museum.
