C-GIBS is the former HB-IBS of Balair, and was still sporting Balair colours and a hastily overpainted Swiss Cross in fin when seen at Conair's base at Abbotsford in summer 1983. It was acquired in September 1982 from Balair, and only minimal changes were necessary to become Canadian, namely HB-IBS was overpainted as C-GIBS, and the Conair titles were applied over the former Balair inscriptions.

C-GIBS was initially assigned temporary tanker number 451, but sometime after full conversion to tanker with the customary belly tank, it became Tanker 51. While the tail was eventually repainted to show the large tanker number, the cheatline remained Balair's through all its time with Conair. In this image, C-GIBS is still tanker 451, but already has its belly tank.

In 2013, the DC-6 was retired and sold to Fairbanks-based Everts Air Cargo. Now N851CE, it was retired at Evert's base Fairbanks, and used for spares. Recent photos show it as still there, and still in Conair Tanker 51 livery.
