Panorama of the Falls on the River Affric, Scotland

            After parking at the Picnic area car park at the western end of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin very early in the morning and arriving at the tail end of a lovely sunrise, we started to make our way down the waterfall trail, through the gorgeous pine and birch forests. The weather seemed to be closing in by now but still gave enough light to appreciate the magical lower falls.

I took many images of the lower falls and then moved up to the bend in the river between the upper and lower falls. The river was in full flow and the noise was incredible. This image of the river bend and upper falls is a six image panorama with the six images being taken in portrait view (vertical).

This magical part of the river runs between Loch Affric and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin.
Glen Affric (Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Afraig) is a glen south-west of the village of Cannich in the Highland region of Scotland, some 15 miles (25 kilometres) west of Loch Ness. The River Affric runs along its length, passing through Loch Affric and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin. A minor public road reaches as far as the end of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin, but beyond that point only rough tracks and footpaths continue along the glen.

Often described as the most beautiful glen in Scotland, Glen Affric contains the third largest area of ancient Caledonian pinewoods in Scotland, as well as lochs, moorland and mountains. The area is a Caledonian Forest Reserve, a national scenic area and a national nature reserve, as well as holding several other conservation designations.
