Summer 2025 Moose Calf

            Every moose calf that survives to mid-summer is incredibly fortunate. In late May, female moose across Alaska find hidden spots to give birth to one, two, or even three calves. However, many of these awkward newborns fall prey to bears and wolves, as their limited agility and lack of defense leave them vulnerable.
It usually takes about five weeks for calves to be able to outrun a bear. The ones that survive are those that stay close to their mothers, facing danger together. In a harsh world where survival is a constant struggle, sticking with family is essential for life.
