Solo UP SD70M at Bonner Springs - a photo on Flickriver

            UP 4017, an EMD SD70M built in June 2000, is on the point of westbound UP manifest MKSTP on a sunny March afternoon in Bonner Springs on the Union Pacific Kansas Subdivision. With the SD70Ms slowly getting more rare on the UP system, seeing UP 4017 as the solo leader on this manifest felt like I'd somehow stepped back in time by a few years when they were on almost every other train. With the recent purging of the SD70Ms on their roster, with their leases ending and getting sold, sidelined and scrapped, the clock is ticking for UP's SD70Ms.
