Tan Confessions April 1952 contents

            While Tan Confessions followed the "true" format of magazines like True Story and True Confessions, it also included exposes of black celebrities, often jazz musicians.  The back half of the magazine included articles that might appeal a large segment of black women in particular including articles on fashion, home-making, and
 raising children.  There were so few black magazines in America, Johnson's Ebony and Tan needed to cover many areas of interest to his readers.
