Twilight comes to Wright-Locke - a photo on Flickriver

            Wright-Locke Farm was founded in 1638 by the Wright-Family, and has been in operation ever since. The Locke family bought it from them in 1807, after the Wrights emigrated to Ontario. I suspect they were Tories and didn't care for the new United States government. The Lockes farmed the land until the 1960s, building the farmhouse in the early 1800s, the 1827 Barn (middle building), and the Squash House in the early 1900s. That's where they stored their main crop, Blue Hubbard squash. The Hamiltons were the last family to own the farm before the Town of Winchester bought it in the late 2000s, saving it from development. It's now a community farm, producing a wide variety of produce. It also has a popular farm education program, with a preschool and kindergarten.
