Red Sun UK 16 Oct 17 - a photo on Flickriver

The day the English sun turned red at midday, 16 October 2017.
Caused by atmospheric conditions brought on by Storm Ophelia dragging a combination of dust from the Sahara Desert and wildfire smoke from southern Europe into the UK atmosphere.
There's plenty of information online about this phenomenonal occurance which was spectacular to witness. The sky went quite dark and everywhere was bathed in an other wordly orange glow whilst the conditions persisted. It was possible to shoot directly into the sun wihout any concerns and no filters required to enhance the scene.
