Izeger Stee

            The road between Luxembourg City and the village of Itzig crosses the narrow Alzette valley. The valley floor is known as the Izeger Stee, indicating that in ancient times there was a bridge across the river. The original bridge was destroyed by the retreating army of occupation in 1944, when the country was liberated by the armed forces of the United States after 5 years of hardship for the population.
