Ecuadorian Hillstar (Oreotrochilus chimborazo)

            Large hummingbird of very high elevations in the Andes virtually endemic to Ecuador, usually encountered in the páramo near patches of orange-flowered Chuquiraga bushes. 
 Although we eventually saw 6 or 7 individuals they included only a single, distant male (on the track up to the antennae at Papallacta).  This female was nesting in a nearby outbuilding (nest appeared to have 2+ near-fledged young) in Antisanna national park.
