Respite

            I was taking pictures of swing dancers in the evening, and these two were not only really good, but they seemed to be having the most fun of anyone on the floor!  I found them later, and shared my thought, and they said, "Pictures?  You have pictures?  Any good ones?"  So I agreed to pass along what I thought were the better shots.  I processed this group first, even though they were near the end of my shooting day.

Shooting was challenging: inside in the evening, using high ISO and still needing to used a slow shutter speed.  The fact that the shots are not razor sharp doesn't particularly bother me with these, as the blurred edges convey motion.  And in some cases, for purposes of sharpening up the image, balancing the exposure and/or dealing with color problems, it worked better to convert to b&w — even grainy film b&w.  (There are a couple of versions of a couple of these shots.)  But once again, that doesn't bother me...
