            El almendro.
Puede alcanzar hasta 10 m. de altura, pero generalmente se le mantiene más bajo mediante poda. La corteza de sus ramitas jóvenes es verde, se vuelve violácea donde recibe la luz solar directa; a partir del segundo año se vuelve gris, y se va oscureciendo progresivamente. Las hojas son estrechamente lanceoladas, el limbo mide entre 8 y 13 cm de largo, con un pecíolo de 2,5 cm y el margen dentado. Caen en otoño. Las flores son pentámeras, con cinco pétalos, de color blanco o rosa, dependiendo de las variedades. Aparecen tempranamente, a veces aún en invierno, antes que broten las hojas.3​
