Janus Class, 0-6-0, 440 H.P., Diesel Electric locomotive No.3, or B.S.C. Plant No.2444/18, was built by the Yorkshire Engine Company Ltd, Meadowhall Works, Sheffield, to Works No.2866, in 1962, and delivered, new to the United Coke and Chemicals Limited, Coke Ovens and By-Products Works, Orgreave. The locomotive is seen here, seemingly stored out-of-use, and awaiting disposal, alongside the locomotive shed, at British Steel Corporation, Chemicals Division, Coke Ovens and By-Products Works, at Orgreave, on 23/09/1990, just two weeks after closure of the works.

Beyond locomotive No.3 can be seen a much cannibalised Janus Class, 0-6-0, 440 H.P., Diesel Electric locomotive No.2, or B.S.C. Plant No.2444/17, which was built by the Yorkshire Engine Company Ltd, Meadowhall Works, Sheffield, to Works No.2754, in 1960, and delivered, new to the United Coke and Chemicals Limited, Coke Ovens and By-Products Works, Orgreave.

I am unsure as to the fate of these two locomotives, and I would be interested to learn as to if either engine had a future beyond Orgreave. I suspect however, that both would be scrapped on-site, at British Steel Corporation, Chemicals Division, Coke Ovens and By-Products Works, at Orgreave, shortly after this image was captured.
