Shakespeare and Globe - a photo on Flickriver

            This secular stained glass window in honour of The Bard was made in Melbourne in 1862. Apparently modelled on a statue in the British Library, it started life as a commissioned piece for a music hall in the heart of the city, but it moved around quite a bit before eventually finding a permanent home on the 6th floor gallery of The State Library of Victoria, Melbourne.  It is free standing in front of a window on a westerly facet of the octagonal walls leading to the domed roof.   Afternoon light is apparently the most favourable, but this shot was taken in the morning. 

Shakespeare is shown here, apparently pondering what he should write next, having just penned the famous line from As You Like It, "All the world's a stage,".  
With dubious syntax, we could prompt him,  "And the men and women merely players;..."
