            A eucalypt in afternoon summer sunshine on a walking track in a reserve in suburban Melbourne, alongside a meandering and famously muddy river.

Claims are made for 700 and even more different eucalypt species.  The structural differences can be great enough for some varieties to appear to be quite separate.
