Seaford Pier - B&W (Explored #5) - a photo on Flickriver

            I took several versions of this photograph before I settled on the setting for this final image. I dialed in a very small aperture because I wanted to keep the entire pier in focus. I experimented with several shutter speeds before arriving on 1/4s to give some nice streaks in the wash. It then came down to setting the ISO to get the correct exposure. 

I tried something a bit different with my editing on this image. I watched a YouTube video this week on "time blending" of images. Essentially, this is two exposures taken using the same setting, just taken a few seconds apart. Using a layer mask, I was able to blend the waves from the two exposures to pick and choose which waves to include or remove from the final image. The foreground wash & the larger wave are from image 1, the pier, sky and the rest of the sea is from a second image.
