Zeiss Biotar 58mm, Praktica F.X2 [Explore 14.01.2021]

            The Praktica F.X2 (1956) from the East German Kamerawerk in Dresden - a very solid SLR with an interesting mechanism for the operation of the semi-automatic and automatic spring aperture lenses, which were making inroads at the time. To accommodate certain older preset lenses that extended further into the camera, the pusher for releasing the spring aperture could be disconnected from the shutter-release, thus avoiding conflict.

Mounted on the camera is the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f:2 lens in M-42 screw-mount, the most expensive of the standard lenses offered. Here it is labelled "Jena B 1:2 f=58" for export to the West. The lens has very beautiful bokeh. View large and zoom in for  a good view of the 10-bladed aperture!

The chest-level view-finder could be replaced by a rather dim prism-finder for eye-level viewing.
