Mosaïque de la Villa romaine de Nennig

            
Un des plus beaux et des plus importants exemples de l’art mosaïque romain des 2 ème et 3 eme siècles après J.C. au nord des Alpes, la mosaïque romaine de Nennig est un des rares à être resté sur son lieu d’origine. Découverte par hasard par un paysan en 1852, la mosaïque était à l’origine au centre d'une villa romaine somptueuse. Des scènes de l’amphithéâtre sont présentées en sept tableaux – un scénario haut en couleur mais sanglant qui donne au spectateur une idée des jeux cruels qui se déroulaient dans l’amphithéâtre.
