Malgamoise - The Reptile Chimera - a photo on Flickriver

Built for round 1 of Bio-Cup 2022

I had a lot of different ideas, but the final concept came after a bit of research on Kaiju monsters. The aspects I liked the most about Kaiju are the weird mixture of features from different animals and the goofyness of the costumes in the classic movies. I decided to incorporate many defining characteristics from a variety of reptiles, namely a rattlesnake's tail, a turtle's shell, and dragon horns. I built two heads because I wanted them to have long thin necks without having the overall silhouette be too empty on the top. I think they add to the sillyness of the design, combined with the stubby limbs and stout proportions. My favorite element of the build is without doubt the olive green carapace on the back.

I wanted to add an element to put the monster into scale. I ended up choosing some planes because they felt more dynamic and fun than some generic architectural element, and also because they remind me of King Kong.
