Guarded by giants

            Twelve Apostles (monument of nature) is a protected area of national interest, corresponding to the 3rd category IUCN (natural reserve, geological type), located in Suceava County on the administrative territory of Dorna Candrenilor commune.
Along the 11 km of the tourist theme route “Twelve Apostles” inside the protected area, a route that starts from the village of Gura Haitii, 28 km from Vatra Dornei in Săru Dornei Commune, tourists are waiting for a trip through spruce forests and sub-alpine pastures to one of the most beautiful destinations in Călimani National Park.
The reserve has an area of 200 ha and represents a complex of eruptive rocks with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic figures, unique by their beauty and shape, formed by the erosion of volcanic aggregates (window, physical disintegration of the type of frost-thaw, erosion produced by the scorching waters). 
For example, the figure of a snout with a beard - to the north, of an old man - to the south, of a ursbear with a bowed head, of a woman reminiscent of Nefertiti's silhouette, etc. Among them is the mysterious figure of Santa who has three distinct facets - all with a human face.
