Mum - bake me a cake! - a photo on Flickriver

Accordng to my dear old mum, this was what I used to say when ensconced in the kitchen, confined to my high chair. What I usually got was baby food. I have no idea where the concept of 'cake' or 'baking' came from at that very early age but apparently I used it relentlessly ad nauseum, poor mum! Since then, my interest in cake has not waned. Fortunately for me, I remained thin throughout my life and was able to scoff any amount of the good stuff. My favourite cake of all time has to be rich chocolate almond cake, closely followed by lemon drizzle cake with Black Forest gateau holding third place in my affections.
