St Georges on the Hill - a photo on Flickriver

That intriguing "cotton wool" cloud sits right over the bell tower of one of Tasmania's most historic churches. St George's was built in 1838. For me a special significance lies in the fact it was designed by the colonial architect of the time, John Lee Archer. Those astute readers who followed my series on the Ross Bridge will know that Archer's designs for the bridge were realised by stonemasons James Colbeck and Daniel Herbert.

The belltower was a later addition and was designed by James Blackburn. We've met him before too, in Campbell Town, where he designed the school house for the St Luke's Church (I'll put the link below). This tower served as a navigation aid for ships.

I don't do drone photography, but the St George's Church web site has a magnificent drone view of the area. It is well worth a look.
