Go-Ahead | YJ14BFA OM4 | Metrocity on the 455 | 11/08/23

            Metrobus inherited almost a full batch of 14 Metrocities from Quality Line RATP Group with the S1 novation. Although the ex-demonstrator one (YJ14BFY) was put up for sale instead of being moved over with the first-hand ones in the class.

The batch has all unfortunately been chronically unreliable right from the start, with Metrobus even withdrawing some and replacing them with their own enviro 200s quite early on. 

But now metrobus has won both the 439 and S2, I guess they found what feels like a loophole to rid this class once and for all, by allocating them to the 455, which will be withdrawn from March (?) next year. 

The S1 and 455 full allocation swap commenced today, albeit OM9 had the honour of being the first Metrocity to enter service on the 455, with it doing rounders on the 9th. 

The conversion took place a day earlier than expected, with it happening on the 11th instead of the 12th. 

I took a ride on OM9 from Croydon to Ampere Way, and it wasn't bad I guess. It did rattle a lot, and was quite limp also, but for a route like the 455, I guess you wouldn't exactly need to go as fast as expected.
