Sidetracking West

            On the second day of our trip north, Leah and I ended up in Sudbury ON. I believe I was hoping to shoot VIAs RDCs when I showed up and got absolutely nothing. So, we stuck around for a little bit and waited for something to happen. A few CP freights came and went before I noticed the Huron Central power in the yard had moved. I was in luck, as a widecab GP and a 40-2 soon pulled out of the yard with a train to take west to Sault Ste Marie on the old CP mainline that they run. 

I had no expectation of getting these guys so I had not planned any shots or even checked the line out. I got a few alright frames before discovering Vermillion Falls on the map coming up and dashed to get over there. 

The colors of fall are making themselves present as the orange pair of GMD and EMD products make their way over the small bridge crossing the falls in this image. I laid on my belly to capture this image as close to the water as I could, much to the delight of my laughing fiance, and bewildering some local family who had no clue what the hell I was doing. 

I would follow the train for a little longer before deciding it was time to move on, but I would run into this railroad a few months later with a friend of mine with the same leader as well. I'll share an image from that chase tomorrow.
