Dancing in the dark - a photo on Flickriver

A "family" of red sprites over the thunderstorms of SE Aegean Sea on Nov. 21, 2022. These happened within less than half a second and in 2 separate groups (The ones to the left of the big void were first, and the 2 on the right followed). They appear as if they are "dancing" in the sky, thus called "dancing sprites" among sprite-chasers. Also, observe how their lower tendrils are pointing towards the thundercloud (where the faint light is), following the temporarily enhanced, due to parent lightning, electric field. New moon phase helped a lot, keeping the sky dark. TLEs (like red sprites) appear, under specific circumstances, above thunderstorms (e.g. red sprites appear at altitudes of 40-90 km). The faint yellow light below comes from the parent lightning. Dark patches are clouds. The mountain shadows are from S. Evia isl. The two groups of distant lights on the far right, come from northern Cyclades isl. I've used a Sigma 85 mm lens at f/1.4, for 1/25'' with 51.2k iso.
