Leyland Titan demonstrator VAO 488Y - a photo on Flickriver

            In 1982, Leyland Bus  suprised the industry when they added a Titan demonstrator to their demonstration fleet. Many people thought it was a pointless exercise considering that the Olympian was well established  both on the home market and overseas. Apart from London Transport, only Reading Transport would order Titans after production was transferred to Workington. In 1983, the death knell would ring for the Titan when London Transport placed their final order for Titans to be delivered during 1984. 

This official Leyland Bus publicity photograph shows the Titan demonstrator registered VAO 488Y possed outside the Leyland National factory for the local official photographer Ivor Nicholas. The sign writing was carried out by Cumberland Motor Services Ltd. Note the equal size lower-deck side windows which look better than the fussy side windows fitted to the Greater Manchester Transport PTE and West Midlands PTE Titans.
