My view of the 1980's... - a photo on Flickriver

My view of the 1980's...

            Borrowed from an online auction page, this shot reminded me of the view I looked forward to back in the 80's. My parents did not own a car but my Mother had a driving licence and once or twice a year would hire a car for a week and would go out to places of interest or up to visit my Nan who lived in Beccles, Suffolk. My Mother's choice of hire car was usually a Vauxhall Nova from the local Vauxhall dealership, Ogglesbys of Harpenden. Excitement mounted as the weeks and then days counted down before we picked the car up usually on the night before we went away. On the night before I would be sneaking a peek out of my bedroom window to check the car was still on the drive and what it looked like, I was not used to seeing a car on the drive! Then Saturday morning came and we were off, and this was usually the view I would have for the next few hours whilst we drove up to Suffolk, with my Mum in the drivers seat and my Dad map reading I would be in the back watching the world go by, and this view...
