Merhamet Certificate Of Thanks, Op Grapple III, Tomislavgrad, Bosnia-Hercegovina, 1994

            Another "treasure" uncovered whilst decluttering prior to downsizing.

Whilst serving with the United Nations in Bosnia-Hercegovina, I had occasion several times to assist the local Tomislavgrad Muslim charity Merhamet in their uphill task to provide food for Muslim refugees. Since Tomislavgrad was a Croat, i.e. Roman Catholic area, Muslims were treated fairly badly and the local Red Cross always refused to help Merhamet out with food despite the fact that their Tomislavgrad warehouse was bursting to the seams with food, much of it going rotten. After arranging delivery of a significant consignment of date expired (but still edible) British Army ten man ration packs, Mr Kapetanović produced Certificates of Thanks for those involved.
